Conclusion

While most young people at the present date would not acknowledge that God and Jesus are topics for artists in the mainstream music world, it seems as though the two most important figures in Christianity have always maintained a presence in the world of music and pop culture. While many would argue that God and Jesus are only popular for artists who label themselves as Christian, this is simply no longer the case. Whether it's in the form of just mentioning God and Jesus in one's lyrics, acknowledging the power of the Almighty, taking on a Jesus complex or writing lyrics that secretly and subtly speak of belief, God and Jesus have always mainsted a presence in mainstream music. Elvis spoke with Jesus in the sixties, George Harrison wanted to see the Lord in the seventies, Donna Sommer acknowledged her faith in the eighties, Joan Osbourne questioned if God was one of us in the nineties, Mumford and Sons acknowledged their faith subtly in the 00's and Miley said that only God could judge her in the 10's. Therefore, in recent years and now more than ever, God and Jesus have mainted a prominent presence in the world of pop music.
